È Angus Kinnear iI il nuovo CEO del club recentemente acquistato Dai Friedkin. Il nuovo dirigente era in uscita dal Leeds; Nolan Partners ha individuato il prossimo dirigente per i nuovi proprietari. Gli stessi americani hanno dato il benservito nella stessa giornata, anche al DS, Kevin Thelwell, e il direttore commerciale e delle comunicazioni Richard Kenyon. Di seguito il comunicato:
ITA Angus Kinnear diventerà il nuovo CEO dell’Everton, a partire dal 1° giugno 2025. Angus si unirà all’Everton dal Leeds United, dove è stato CEO dal 2017. Prima del Leeds, Angus ha ricoperto ruoli dirigenziali presso l’Arsenal e il West Ham United. Maggiori informazioni sulla sua nomina saranno condivise a tempo debito.
Colin Chong rimarrà nel Club supervisionando il nuovo stadio dell’Everton e la riqualificazione dell’area circostante, nonché il futuro del Goodison Park.
Colin ha affermato: “È stato un onore servire come CEO dell’Everton e guidare il Club attraverso tempi difficili e verso un nuovo futuro luminoso sotto The Friedkin Group. Non vedo l’ora di assumere questo nuovo ruolo concentrandomi sulla nostra nuova casa e, cosa altrettanto importante, sulla riqualificazione dell’area circostante”.
Il direttore sportivo Kevin Thelwell continuerà a guidare il dipartimento sportivo fino a quando il nuovo CEO non sarà in carica e poi lascerà il Club quando il suo contratto scadrà alla fine della stagione. Kevin è entrato a far parte dell’Everton nel 2022 e ha lavorato con i manager successivi per garantire che il Club mantenesse il suo status di Premier League.
Il Club passerà da un singolo Direttore sportivo a un team di leadership sportiva più ampio. La pianificazione per la finestra di trasferimento estiva è già in corso, guidata dal dipartimento sportivo e da David Moyes, e le nomine senior saranno annunciate a tempo debito.
Kevin ha affermato: “Sono estremamente orgoglioso di ciò che abbiamo realizzato nelle circostanze più difficili negli ultimi tre anni e credo che lascerò il Club in una posizione molto più forte rispetto a quando sono entrato nel 2022. È stato un privilegio lavorare per l’Everton Football Club e vorrei ringraziare i giocatori, lo staff e ovviamente i tifosi per il loro fantastico supporto durante il mio periodo qui. Anche Richard Kenyon, Chief Commercial and Communications Officer, lascerà il Club. Richard ha servito l’Everton per oltre 11 anni in una serie di posizioni di leadership senior, tra cui quella di CEO di Everton nella comunità dal 2018 al 2021. Le sue responsabilità saranno divise tra i membri esistenti dei team di comunicazione e commerciale e le nuove nomine senior che saranno annunciate a tempo debito come parte di una ristrutturazione dell’Executive Leadership Team.
Richard ha affermato: “Sono orgoglioso dei miei 11 anni all’Everton e di poter lasciare il Club in un momento di stabilità e autentico ottimismo. Nonostante le sfide senza precedenti degli ultimi anni, abbiamo raggiunto grandi traguardi, in particolare la consegna del nostro nuovo stadio e il cambiamento commerciale che sosterrà la crescita del Club per molti anni a venire. È stato un piacere lavorare al fianco di TFG e ogni Evertoniano dovrebbe essere entusiasta della loro ambizione: credo che siano i custodi perfetti per il nostro grande club. Personalmente, non vedo l’ora di una nuova opportunità professionale e di prendere il mio posto come tifoso nel nostro magnifico stadio sul lungomare più avanti quest’anno”.
Il presidente esecutivo dell’Everton Marc Watts ha commentato la notizia: “Angus è uno dei principali dirigenti del calcio inglese e porta con sé una vasta esperienza rilevante. La sua nomina significa che l’Everton affronterà l’estate con un leader di prima classe.
“Un caloroso ringraziamento a Colin per la sua leadership nel guidare il Club in alcuni dei periodi più difficili della sua storia. Sono felice e confortato dal fatto che rimarrà con noi in un ruolo di vitale importanza mentre utilizziamo il nuovo stadio dell’Everton come trampolino di lancio per la rigenerazione dell’area locale.
“Kevin è stato fondamentale per garantire la sopravvivenza della Premier League in questo periodo difficile. Risolvendo i problemi del PSR attraverso un significativo scambio di giocatori, crediamo di avere una squadra straordinaria che può essere la base per il successo futuro. Questo successo futuro sarà anche supportato dal nostro talentuoso dipartimento sportivo riunito da Kevin. Siamo lieti che Kevin rimarrà con noi in questo periodo intermedio.
“Voglio anche ringraziare Richard per i suoi molti anni di servizio all’Everton e per il suo supporto personale a noi del The Friedkin Group nei nostri primi mesi al Club. Se ne va avendo svolto un ruolo chiave nella consegna del nostro nuovo stadio a Bramley-Moore Dock, dal processo di consultazione, fino alla vendita di abbonamenti premium e stagionali mentre ci prepariamo a trasferirci nella nostra nuova casa. Mentre intraprende la sua prossima avventura professionale, lo fa sapendo che sarà sempre il benvenuto qui.”
ENG Angus Kinnear will become Everton’s new CEO, effective from 1 June 2025. Angus will join Everton from Leeds United, where he has been CEO since 2017. Before Leeds, Angus held leadership roles at Arsenal and West Ham United. More will be shared on his appointment in due course.
Colin Chong will remain with the Club overseeing Everton’s new stadium and the regeneration of its surrounding area, as well the future of Goodison Park.
Colin said: “It has been an honour to serve as Everton’s CEO and to shepherd the Club through challenging times and into a bright new future under The Friedkin Group. I look forward to taking on this new role focusing on our new home and, just as importantly, the regeneration of the area around it.”
Director of Football Kevin Thelwell will continue to lead the sporting department until the new CEO is in place and then leave the Club when his contract expires at the end of the season. Kevin joined Everton in 2022 and has worked with successive managers to ensure that the Club retained its Premier League status.
The Club will transition from a single Director of Football to a wider sporting leadership team. Planning for the summer transfer window is already under way, led by the sporting department and David Moyes, and senior appointments will be announced in due course.
Kevin said: “I am extremely proud of what we have achieved in the most challenging of circumstances over the past three years and believe I’ll leave the Club in a much stronger position than when I joined in 2022. It has been a privilege to work for Everton Football Club and I would like to thank the players, staff and of course the fans for their fantastic support during my time here. I also look forward to seeing the Club progress on and off the pitch in the years to come under the stewardship of TFG.”
Chief Commercial and Communications Officer Richard Kenyon is also leaving the Club. Richard has served Everton for more than 11 years in a variety of senior leadership positions, including as CEO of Everton in the Community from 2018-2021. His responsibilities will be divided between existing members of the Communications and Commercial Teams, and new senior appointments who will be announced in due course as part of a restructuring of the Executive Leadership Team.
Richard said: “I am proud of my 11 years at Everton and that I am able to leave the Club at a time of stability and genuine optimism. Despite facing unprecedented challenges over recent years, we have achieved some great things – notably delivering our new stadium and the commercial step-change that will support the growth of the Club for many years to come. It has been a pleasure to work alongside TFG, and every Evertonian should be excited by their ambition – I believe they are the perfect custodians for our great club. Personally, I’m looking forward to a new professional opportunity and to taking my place as a fan at our magnificent waterfront stadium later this year.”
Everton Executive Chairman Marc Watts commented on the news: “Angus is one of England’s leading football executives and brings a wealth of relevant experience. His appointment means Everton will go into the summer with a first-class leader.
“A warm thank you to Colin for his leadership in steering the Club through some of the most challenging times in its history. I’m delighted and comforted that he will remain with us in a vitally important role as we use the new Everton Stadium as a launchpad for regeneration of the local area.
“Kevin has been integral in ensuring Premier League survival in this difficult period. By resolving PSR issues through significant player trading we believe we have an extraordinary squad that can be the foundation for future success. This future success will also be supported by our talented sporting department assembled by Kevin. We are pleased Kevin will remain with us in this interim period.
“I also want to thank Richard for his many years of service to Everton and for his personal support to us at The Friedkin Group in our first months at the Club. He leaves having played a key role in the delivery of our new stadium at Bramley-Moore Dock, from the consultation process, through to the premium and Season Ticket sales as we prepare to move into our new home. As he embarks on his next professional adventure, he does so knowing he will always be welcome here.”
